In Memoriam: Roy McLaughlin

McLAUGHLIN, Dr. Roy - Of Swartz Creek, age 57, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11AM Monday, July 21, 2008 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Pastor Vernon Lee of Texas, officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church to establish a Memorial Fund in Dr. McLaughlin's name. Visitation 1PM-5PM Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home. Pastor McLaughlin will be at the church from 10AM Monday until the time of the service. Roy was born in Dallas, Texas on May 16, 1951. He married Neva Stanley in Waxahachie, Texas on August 20, 1971. Roy was the Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church for over 16 years. He was also Vice President of the Baptist Missionary Association of America and Executive Director of the Moral Action Committee of B.M.A.A. Dr. McLaughlin has faithfully ministered since age 19. Surviving are wife Neva; sons, Matthew and wife Dana of Swartz Creek, Jonathan and wife Rachel of Flint, Michael and wife Kelly of Flushing and Jason of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Noah, Jonah, Hayden, Gabriel, Colby, Neva Grace, Sawyer, Baylee, Gwyneth; brothers, Bill McLaughlin of Wisconsin, Wayne McLaughlin of Dallas, Texas and Larry and wife Judy of Dallas, Texas; parents, W.D. and Gladys McLaughlin of Mesquite, Texas; several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.
