Our Website Explained
Published 8/31/2005
Those of you who have visited our website at various times
have probably noticed that it is constantly changing. Every page shows the upcoming
events. The events listed are
normally shown a week at a time with the exception of the Awana page which shows
a month of events. All of the
events that have been entered in to our calendar can be seen on the calendar
pages either as a list of events or as a monthly calendar showing the events for
the month. Once the events have
passed they are no longer displayed in the lists, but they remain in the
calendar for historical reference.
We upload
sermons on a weekly basis. Normally
we keep three months worth of sermons on the server. We remove the oldest ones when the space
we have on the server gets too full.
On several of the pages we have lists of
articles. Often an article will be
displayed on the main page first, and then as time passes it may be moved to a
less prominent location. If the
article has dated information or if we feel it should not remain listed on our
website indefinitely we will attach an expiration date to it. Once this date is reached the article
will be archived. The article will
remain available at the very same URL as before, but none of the pages will
advertise the location of the article in the lists of articles. By archiving the article rather than
deleting it we are able to insure that bookmarks and links from other sites will
resolve to the original page rather than an error message. The archived articles may be missing some
images if we need to remove image files to free up space on the server, but the
rest of the information will remain available. It is our hope that our website
will provide you with relevant, accurate and up to date information, but we do
not want to remove information that someone needs. Our archive process attempts to walk the
balance between providing new information and remaining a source of information that
a person has seen previously.
