Knowing What to Expect

When visiting a church for the first time it can be difficult to know where to go and what to do. Some people may avoid visiting a church because they are afraid of doing the wrong thing. We hope this page will assist you as you visit our church for the first time.

Arrival

Our parking lot has three driveways that connect with the street. The one that is the farthest south (closest to the insurance company) is the main entrance. If you are coming from the South you will need to turn immediately after passing the insurance company driveway. If you are coming from the North you will need to turn left from the center lane in the second drive after our building.

Parking

We have plenty of parking. There are several parking spaces in front and there is additional parking in back. We have a few handicap parking spaces. The two closest to the main entry are normally used by our church vans.

Entering the Building

We recommend that you enter through our main entry when visiting for the first time. This entry is the glass doors that are located near the handicap parking. There will usually be someone waiting to open the door for you and to welcome you to our church. First time visitors are normally given a packet of information about our church. The weekly bulletin is available just inside the front door. Someone may be handing them out or you may pick one up from the table. Our bulletins have a flap that we use to keep track of attendance. We ask that people who have never attended our church fill it our completely and drop it in the offering plate. You should have time to do this during the song service.

Sunday School and Bible Study

Our Sunday school and Bible study classes begin at nine-thirty. We have classes available for all ages. There is a class that meets in the auditorium and is designed for all age groups. If you would like to attend a class that is more specific to your age and situation then please tell the person at the door that you need to be directed to a class. He will ask someone to help you find a class.

Worship Service

Our Sunday morning worship service begins at ten-forty. A nursery and children’s church is available for the younger children during this time. The nursery is located near the front entrance.

Our worship service meets in the auditorium. You may sit anywhere. Our worship services are best classified as blended, so you may hear many different styles of music. We normally collect an offering following the last congregational song. We do not ask that our visitors give for the expenses of our church, but we would like to know more about you, so we ask that you place the attendance card in the plate at this time.

You can expect to hear a sermon from the Word of God following the song service. If you have a personal Bible you will probably want to bring it to follow along. We also have Bibles available in the pews. Following the sermon we normally have an invitation and then a prayer is said at the end of the service.

Leaving the Building

You may find that people are slow to leave after services. Many people stand around to visit one another and our pastor likes to stand at the door to shake everyone’s hand as they leave.

How We Dress

We have no dress code and we don’t turn people away based on how they are dressed, but many of our people like to wear their best clothes on Sunday morning. Sunday evening is more relaxed and Wednesday evening is even more so. At any of our services you will find people wearing jeans, but there is a smaller percentage that does so on Sunday morning. On Wednesday evening you may find someone wearing a suit and tie, but this is more uncommon since many of our people do not change clothes between work and church.
